Our Vision

Our vision is a society for all ages in which older people in Yorkshire and the Humber havea good quality of life and more opportunities, now and in the future.

Our Mission

To focus expertise and experience in a multi agency forum that enables partners to respond effectively to key issues affecting the diverse and ageing population of the Yorkshire and Humber Region.


To act as a forum for highlighting and effectively responding to key issues facing the ageing population of the Yorkshire and Humber region:


  1. Influence a wide range of public, privateandindependentagencies onissuesofageing,valuingolderpeopleasa resource,andoftheimportanceof thesocialand economicwell-being ofolder people.

  2. Communicateeffectivelyandwork in partnershipwith a range of agencies, older people and their representatives, and other stakeholders concerned with issues of ageing.

  3. Promote awareness oftheimpactandimplicationsofdemographicchane across the regionandchampionactivitieswhich promoteawarenessofAge Discrimination.

  4. Involve older people in order to ensure their views are represented within regional strategic developments and are used to inform the work of the Future Years.


In delivering the above objectives the forum will:

  1. Work in partnership with interested andrelevantagencies which reflect the diversity of the regions population.

  2. Share information and resources including, for example, data, details on legislation, developments and initiatives, problems and examples of best practice.

  3. Support and promote the development of partnership working and multi-sector approaches.

  4. Support and promote initiatives and developments relevant to the region's ageing population.

  5. Conduct research and specific pieces of work; source and gather evidenc; collate and share findings and informaiton wtih partners and other stakeholders.

  6. Engage with older people, to ensure their involvement and consultation in key regional strategic developments.
