Future Years Forum Meetings 2016_17

The Future Years Forum meets on a quarterly basis to:

  • discuss issues pertinent to older people
  • arrange feedback on consultations and how they impact on older people
  • update members on the work of forum members in the region

Wendy Cocks from Care and Repair England presented on Age Friendly Cities which identified 8 critical factors for success, many of which would also help other the whole population. They include good lighting, unobstructed and even pavements and pathways, clear crossings, seating in public spaces, toilets and transport.

David Jeffels, County Councillor in North Yorkshire talked about the cross party work he was involved in when the government proposed to review bus subsidies and reduce funding. The Bus Services Bill included funding to set up Community Transport schemes.
