The Care Act

The Care Act has been described as the most significant change to care and support in over 60 years. It became legislation in May 2014 and will be implemented from April 2015. Under the Care Act, Local Authorities will make sure that people who live in their areas:

  • have their wellbeing at the very core of any care and support received
  • receive services that prevent, reduce and delay their care needs from becoming more serious
  • can get the information they need to make good decisions about care and support
  • have a good range of providers to choose from
